Synopsis: Antigone of Syria reimagines Sophocles’ tragedy with Syrian refugee women in Beirut’s camps. Guided by director Omar Abu Saada and Playwright Mohamad Al Attar, the project transforms Antigone into a framework for personal testimony about loss, exile and resilience. Through workshops and performance, participants reclaim their narratives, merging classical drama with lived experience to confront tyranny, war and displacement.
