Synopsis: Amaechi, a young African-American man, journeys to Africa with his mother Ida so that the two can find Amaechi’s father, Odozi. This play explores the diaspora’s complex connections with Africa and the effects of slavery on shaping the culture — Ida’s own father was an enslaved African. Amaechi, the son of an immigrant who returned to Africa, learns about his father’s culture. Ida explores the division of Africa through the splitting of Ikenga, a powerful Igbo symbol.
